On my day off I was in town (Melbourne, Australia) doing some street photography.
I was outside Flinders Street station facing the stairs looking for interesting people to photograph. I turned my head towards the intersection behind me and discovered this fellow leaning on his bicycle, on the road, talking to the driver who had stopped at the lights.
I quickly fired off a couple of shots.
What I like about the photo and what I like to capture in an image is to get the viewer to ask questions and discover a story.
Look at their dress sense, the modes of transport, their posture, the expression on the ‘beanie man’. What are they talking about? Where do they work? Is it a friendly conversation? What prompted the conversation?
This photo was entered in my local photography club and was awarded a commendation in the Novice EDI – Unrestricted Subject competition.
