I first watched the Addams Family in the 1960’s (yes, I am that old) and it was one of my favourite television shows.
The show had great characters; Lurch, Gomez, Morticia, Thing, Uncle Fester, Grandma, Wednesday, Pugsley and cousin It.
Lurch, the butler, was my favourite. Who else could say ‘you rang?’ in such a deep voice. He was so tall, so cool and so dignified. He played the harpsicord with finesse and you could tell he was passionate about his music by the expression on his face.
Here are the lyrics by Vic Mizzy. Sing along if you want to.
They’re creepy and they’re kooky,
Mysterious and spooky,
They’re all together ooky,
The Addams Family.
Their house is a museum
Where people come to see ’em
They really are a scream
The Addams Family.
(Neat)
(Sweet)
(Petite)
So get a witch’s shawl on
A broomstick you can crawl on
We’re gonna pay a call on
The Addams Family.

Oh, the wonderful days of childhood when I first watched The Addams Family. I always got a laugh about how Gomez would blow hp his trains.
