The memoir is coming along nicely as I’m writing each week day at 7.ooam.
The other day I was working on ‘The 1930 Penny’ vignette and decided to google this iconic Australian penny.
As soon as I saw a photo of this rare coin it triggered many more memories. Of my time as a ten year old collecting and sorting and marvelling at my penny collection and the three different heads of sovereigns spanning over fifty years.
I could also feel the coins in my hands, smell the copper, hear the sound when they dropped on the table, and feel the strain in my arm carrying a large plastic bag of pennies.
It’s incredible how shaking loose one pebble of a memory can cause a landslide of memories.
